Well la-di-dah and dah!

Had a 9am appointment with the cardiology practice this morning. I was dreading it because I don't like the cardiologist (who I have seen before) but I was seeing a nurse practitioner today, a guy. I was all prepared for a fight. And wadda ya know - he turned out to be the nicest guy. The medical assistant was a charming and lovely young woman. Good-o!

I didn't have a heart attack and I don't have heart disease but I do have thickening in one chamber of my heart. I would go into more detail but do you really care or need to know? Yeah, I didn't think so.

I have always told doctors that I don't fit into the normal box, in how I react to medication or even how my body reacts to just about anything.  Whatever diagnosis and remedy they come up with it it won't fit what is going on with me. Of course they are doctors and they know everything and poo, poo, poo - until. Yeah, they all wind up saying "You are a little odd" A little? - LOL

I wish I could tell you about all the peculiarities of my current physical condition or the fun and games in the hospital where I had doctors from three different specialties scratching their heads  trying to figure out what the hell was going on. It was a hoot actually. Just trust me when I say it wasn't anything they had ever seen before, well not all at the same time (How can a person have trouble breathing when their oxygen levels are 100%?)

Treatment for one of my problems contradicts treatment for another of my problems and testing for another condition can't really be done until the other two problems are cleared so it's a waiting game, tho at the moment, unless I have another bout of internal bleeding, I am pretty much in good shape.

On the weather front - the building engineer started the process to switch from a/c to heat and found there was a problem with a pipe, so they have to fix the pipe problem before they can turn on the heat - maybe Thursday. Right now I have icicles hanging from my nose...

  1. So glad you like all of your medical crew! Thank Cod you didn't have a heart attack either. I think stumping the Drs is kinda a fun challenge for them and they give you extra attention to figure it out. I'm just happy they did figure it out so you could get well. Now if only you don't freeze before you get the heat turned on!

    1. I'm amazed at how much I like my medical crew - I've always hated doctors and made no bones about it - but I seem to be lucking out at a time when I need all the luck I can get!

  2. As a general rule I like nurse practitioners more than physicians. As a general rule they're more patient and listen better. Hmmm... thickening of one chamber wall... possibly means that chamber has to work harder than the others so it thinks if it gets thicker it can do more work? **my nurse mind is whirling** I hope your maladies get sorted out, my friend. What you suggest is what a lot of patients experience... take care of one thing and break something else. Most of the time the one hand (doctor) doesn't know what the other hand (different doctor) is doing so things get to be a jumbled mess. Specialists are fine things but sometimes I long for the days when one doctor did it all, hit or miss. May you have heat soon and may the icicle drips stay out of your coffee. :-D ~Andrea

    1. My previous PCP was a nurse practitioner and I hated that little bitch! I did switch to a real doctor in that practice for one visit, another female and another bitch. That's when I just stopped going to doctors. I'm loving my new PCP - absolutely lovely man, explains things well, has a sense of humor and doesn't talk to me like I am an idiot child!

    2. You have found the proverbial needle in the haystack... and I'm glad.

  3. What a relief that you got to see someone that was nice. You sure are keeping those doctors on their toes. Maybe some hot tea or soup will melt those icicles on your nose. Hope they get that heat switched over soon

    1. Here it is Wednesday and the temps are supposed to go up to the high 70's so a bit of a respite from the chilliness.
